Our Lovely Rosie

Rosie arrived with us from the stray kennels in an awful condition. She’d been abandoned, unable to use one of her back legs, covered in matts, suffering with painful ears and teeth, and it’s clear she’s had many puppies in her past.

Thanks to Verity the groomer and Dot at The Hollows, Rosie was gently clipped, bathed, and made comfortable before heading off to the The Vets At Dronfield for a full day of treatment. She received her vaccinations, flea and worm treatment, a dental (with several teeth removed), her ears flushed and medicated, and a complete set of X‑rays.

The X‑rays show her hip was dislocated — likely caused by trauma (possibly a rta)— and because it’s been left untreated for so long, her hip couldn’t be put back in place. Her images were sent to a specialist, who recommended a Femoral Head and Neck Excision. This surgery should enable her to walk again pain free once she has built her muscles up again.

Rosies surgery went very well and she is already recovering well. She had a couple of weeks of Crate rest but we are now working on building her muscles up and she will be starting physio and hydrotherapy soon.

Despite everything she’s endured, Rosie is the happiest, sweetest soul. She faced every bit of treatment with such bravery… as long as she had cuddles. These dogs amaze us every single day with their resilience
